Imposter Syndrome & Availability Heuristic Bias

In the Fall semester of 2022, I took H-200, which is an Intro to Honors course. This course introduced me to the Honors College at IUPUI and taught me many valuable skills and other knowledge that will aid to my success in the honors program. One of the assignments in this class was a group project in which we researched a challenge that honors students often face and paired it with a cognitive bias. My team and I researched Imposter Syndrome and Availability Heuristic Bias and provided ways to cope with these challenges.

This project opened my eyes to the many challenges that honors students may face and how common these challenges are for many students. It also educated me on the many cognitive biases and helped me to know how to recognize them and overcome them. Additionally, this project helped me reflect on my own challenges as an honors student and taught me how to work through common biases in order to be a more open-minded individual.
